Funeral or buffet?

My pastor brought up a good point in church Sunday. Actually, I guess it was really Solomon...but anyway, Here's an excerpt from Ecc: 7

1
A good name is better than fine perfume, and the day of death better than the day of birth. 2 It is better to go to a house of mourning than to go to a house of feasting, for death is the destiny of every man; the living should take this to heart. 3 Sorrow is better than laughter, because a sad face is good for the heart. 4 The heart of the wise is in the house of mourning, but the heart of fools is in the house of pleasure. 5 It is better to heed a wise man's rebuke than to listen to the song of fools. 6 Like the crackling of thorns under the pot, so is the laughter of fools. This too is meaningless.

So, let's discuss! I love the Lord but I am in no hurry to go to a funeral, especially of someone that I know. However, I think I understand the point Solomon was trying to make. I think my pastor said it best, "you rarely ever come away from a fun outing and make a life changing decision" ... or he said something close to that. Is the point that we should reflect on our own mortality to make decisions on what we choose to do or say today, while we are alive? Sorrow is better than laughter...again, we have something to learn and can pull strength from a sad situation whereby laughter is fleeting, right? I really struggle to recall a funny joke, but a really sad situation can stay with me longer than I would care for it to.

What do you guys think? I think I am drowning in the house of pleasure and laughing myself to death.
